READ (John 13:35)
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
REFLECT
It’s one thing to say we’re followers of Jesus. It’s another to show it; especially to those who are different than us or judged to be less worthy of love based on actions of life’s circumstances. Jesus didn’t say people would recognize his disciples by how well they preached or how much they knew. He said they’d know by our love; a love that moves beyond words into actions blessed by the Holy Spirit.
I’m passionate about feeding people, yes spiritually, but also physically. Hunger is a real issue in our community and world, and we have the privilege to provide food to our community through our food pantry and through support the Ballard Summer Meal Program. Feeding people may seem easy or small, but in that moment, we’re doing something deeply Christ-like. We’re seeing someone’s need, and we’re stepping in with care. That’s what Jesus did. Again and again, He fed the hungry, sat at tables with the forgotten, and made sure people were filled; physically and spiritually.
In a world that’s full of noise and division, a bag of food, shared meal, or meal program says, you matter. You’re not alone. God sees you, and so do I. Feeding people is not just about giving them food. We’re giving them a glimpse of Jesus. Let’s be known for that kind of love
PRAY:
Lord Jesus, thank You for feeding us with Your grace and mercy. Help us love as You love—especially when we see someone hungry. Use our hands, our kitchens, and our hearts to show the world that we are Yours. Amen
