Do not be afraid; for see – I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people; to you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
REFLECT
Today, Christmas Eve, Christians all over the world will hear these familiar words from the gospel of Luke. It will be told in hundreds of languages. From the most ornate cathedrals to the simplest sanctuaries, in cozy homes or open sky, in hospital chapels and on military bases, people will stop to hear the good news of great joy. The words of this gospel story connect us to our brothers and sisters in Christ all around the world. On this day, let us remember that we are not alone as we share in the hope that comes with the birth of Jesus, Immanuel, God With Us.
PRAY:
God, bring your light, hope, peace and healing to every corner of the world today. Let us remember that we are all connected to one another through Christ. Amen
