Halloween transforms our neighborhoods into a world of shadows and mystery, where we step into different identities through costumes and embrace the playful darkness of the season. From the glow of jack-o’-lanterns to the thrill of scary movies and the joy of collecting candy, this holiday often draws our attention to the darker side of life and imagination.
Yet even in this season of shadows, John reminds us of an eternal truth that God’s light shines through it all. While Halloween may temporarily celebrate the mysterious and spooky, it also offers us a powerful opportunity to remember that God’s light remains undefeated. Through simple acts of kindness and love – whether sharing treats with neighborhood children or showing compassion to those around us – we become channels of this divine light, helping to illuminate the world and demonstrating that darkness, no matter how deep it may seem, will never extinguish the warmth of God’s enduring presence.
