Bring your full tithe to the Temple treasury so there will be ample provisions in my Temple. Test me in this and see if I don’t open up heaven itself to you and pour out blessings beyond your wildest dreams. (Malachi 3:10)
REFLECT
We are in the midst of Stewardship Month at our church. My parents always taught me to tithe. However, after I got married and had children there were always bills to be paid and I started giving God what was left over each month. The bad thing is there never seemed to be much or no money left at the end of the month. It wasn’t until I started giving God his gift first whenever I got paid, that for some reason, there was now money left at the end of the month. That is not to say that I didn’t need to make different decisions on how I spent my money, but the decisions were actually easier to make. My father used to tell me that you cannot outgive God. He was right. God provides everything I need, not necessarily everything I want. It is such a blessing.
PRAY
Gracious and generous God, help us to remember that you do provide for everything we really need and help us remember to give back to you. You gave us the ultimate gift of your son, Jesus Christ. Thank you! In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
