READ (Micah 6:8)
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord
require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly
with your God.

REFLECT
Maybe these words from the book of Micah are familiar to you, maybe they
are not. These words are helpful to me when I don’t know what to do.
There are all kinds of choices we need to make in our lives. Maybe we are
considering a major purchase or getting involved in a new activity. Maybe
we are considering taking on a new volunteer role at church or in the
community. These words from Micah can help us make the choice, when
we are wondering which way to go, or even what attitude I should take
about an issue I care about.

It is helpful to ask, does this choice help me to act justly? To love mercy?
Does it help me to walk humbly with God?

PRAY: Caring God, help me to open my heart and my ears to receive your
guidance when I am making choices. Help me to know if I am acting justly,
loving mercy, and walking humbly with you. Amen.
