Fjeldberg – Devotion for July 9, 2024

READ (Romans 8:28)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

REFLECT

After a two-week period where I was away from home, and during one of the hottest weeks of the year, the air conditioning in my car stopped working. It was not a pleasant 30-minute drive to my destination. Luke, Boden, and I all worked together on the car off and on over the next week. That interruption of normal operation led to moments of togetherness we wouldn’t have had without it, and at a time when we needed some family time.

During this same week, I heard a radio show where they asked for good reasons why someone stopped their car (not the typical “Don’t make me turn this car around” scenario). At the end of the stories, a comment was made about embracing the interruptions of life because they can lead to God moments. This made me think of our time working on the car and it made me smile. And so, I challenge you to find the God moment whenever something, or someone, interrupts your day and I hope it makes you smile as well.

PRAY:

God of mystery, we may not always understand why things happen, but we thank you for giving us the comfort of knowing you work all things for good. Help us to look to you when things don’t go as we planned. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
