Fjeldberg – Devotion for May 8th, 2025
READ (Isaiah 46:4)
“ I will be your God throughout your lifetime, until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and I will save you.”
REFLECT
Growing up, Wednesday evenings and Sundays were reserved for church activities. We participated in the church activities and attended Sunday School and Church on Sundays. The only accepted excuse for not attending was illness. Any other excuses were met with, “No, you don’t have to go, you get to go.”
I’m not saying that those who attend church regularly are more righteous than others. However, by attending church, there is the support and fellowship with the Pastor and fellow members, a greater understanding of lessons learned in Sunday School and Church, supporting mission projects in our community and the world, appreciation for the Pastor, Church staff members, volunteers who organize and serve in so many capacities, and for the “young families “ who bring their children to Church and Sunday School, it can be the foundation for their faith journeys.
There are times in any stage of our lives when we deal with doubts and times of tragedy. However, it seems in the “white hair” years it is inevitable that there are more frequent happenings; loss of loved ones, friends, fellow church members, illnesses, loss of mobility, accidents, memory loss, etc. Regardless of our years of life, I don’t know how one deals with such situations without faith, trust in God and knowing that HE will sustain us.
PRAY:
Dear God,
Help us to trust you in all of life’s struggles and know that you will not abandon us.
