Bible Text
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel.(Philippians 1:27)
Reflect
At a women’s retreat I attended, the speaker talked about walking worthy in a way I had never thought of before, I will do my best to paraphrase the message. We can never walk worthy enough to earn God’s love, there is nothing we can do to deserve God’s love. The gospel tells us about how Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins, Jesus rose from the dead, Jesus’s death and resurrection made it possible for us to be forgiven, Jesus’s resurrection gives us the chance to share in God’s victory over sin and death. God who created the entire universe planned Jesus’s earthly life, death, and resurrection out of his love for you! As a Christian, you are not being called to walk in worthiness as a reflection of your faith, but to walk as a reflection of God’s worth according to the gospel.
Pray
We humbly come to you, God, and ask for your love and forgiveness. Strengthen us to live a life that tells of your worth to all the world. We thank you for the chance to live and grow with you now and forever. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
