Fjeldberg – Devotion for March 6th, 2025
READ (Joel 2:13)
Return to the Lord, your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from punishment.
REFLECT
Today marks the first of 40 days in our Lenten journey. Lent can be a bit of a downer season, where we repent for our sins and remember our need for Jesus, but we don’t need to bear the burden of shame and repentance on our own. This year, we are making our way through the Lord’s prayer for 40 days and reading the book “May It Be So.” I’m so excited about this practice of reading a prompt and reflecting on a picture, drawing closer to the Lord’s Prayer and God. Lent is all about letting go of the things that we feel can separate us from God and drawing near to a God who loves us so much and who is gracious and merciful.
How are you returning or drawing near to God? What do you need to let go of to follow God more closely?
PRAY:
Good and gracious God, thank you for your grace and mercy, that you extended to us through Jesus. Be with us this season as we seek to draw closer to you and grow in faith. Open our eyes to the new ways you move and work in our world. Amen.
