Fjeldberg – Devotion for February 11th, 2025
READ (Romans 15:13)
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
REFLECT
A few weeks ago, Pastor began his message by asking us how we see God working in our lives. I was struck by the timeliness and pertinence of the question, my first thought being, “God is working overtime and pulling me along with bold expectations.”
In the past months, I have been immersed in countless family and friend struggles. Phone calls, texts, emails, and face to face conversations of deep loss, illness, injuries, mental fatigue, strained relationships, financial issues, and loss of jobs seemed far too frequent. I began asking questions. Why am I placed in these tough situations? Isn’t there someone better equipped than I to give advice, render an opinion, share comfort, or just listen? Is God sending me messages to do what Jesus would do?
Bottom line, I felt nudged to do whatever I could, to the best of my ability. I began to thank God for opening doors of opportunity and giving me the strength and confidence to walk beside many extended family and friends (and a few that I hardly knew), some in great need and others who were comforted by a few words or a quick hug. No, I did not have all the answers, and yes, I often felt uneasy, unworthy, or in over my head, but I could offer hope and encouragement that Jesus through the promise of God is always present.
I experienced miracles to inexplicable losses and everything in between during this unique 2024 spiritual walk. Do I believe God is working in all our lives…. yes. Hope is trusting in God’s love and comfort through Jesus Christ during good and challenging times. Through our faith, we have been granted the divine purpose of sharing God’s precious love with all.
PRAY:
Precious Lord, we pray for assurance and confidence that we may be present for those who are hurting or struggling. Thank you for working in our lives and reminding us that hope is always present as we focus upon Jesus, the perfecter of faith, no matter what each day may bring.
