Fjeldberg – Devotion for December 10, 2024
READ (Genesis 9:12-13)
“And God said ‘This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.’ “
REFLECT
A few weeks back Lhea and I were on our way to Pella and saw in the eastern sky a double rainbow. Several years ago, in the Black Hills we were awed by a triple rainbow – I suspect that it may have been a once-in-a-lifetime event.
The promise God made so long ago was that there would never again be an all-encompassing flood. The rainbow still bears witness to that promise. Seeing a double, or even more rare triple rainbow, reinforces the fact we can rely on God’s promises; All God’s promises, from the stable in Bethlehem to eternity with him.
PRAY:
Lord, we stand in awe of your creation and the rainbows bearing witness to your presence and promises. We stand on the greatest promise of eternal life with you as provided by Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection. Amen
