BIBLE TEXT
Do not, therefore, abandon that confidence of yours….for you need endurance. (Hebrews 10:35-36)
REFLECT
Have you ever first started a project or plan with great enthusiasm and excitement about all you would be able to achieve given the opportunity? After a while and a great amount of unsuccessful effort, have you found your spirits sagging, with a growing worry that you would not be able to do what you had set out to do? Many of us have found ourselves in that situation and it is a hard time of doubt and sometimes despair. Here, the author of this Bible text urges the early Christians to not give up but keep going to fulfill their mission, trusting that God would reward them for their endurance.
PRAY
Dear God, please give us the faith to carry on in the hard times, to bear our struggles with confidence that they can be overcome, to remember that God’s people endure. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
