Fjeldberg – Devotion for September 26, 2024
READ James 2:15-16 (New Living Translation)
Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well” — but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?
REFLECT
The verses above were part of the passage from “Christ in Our Home” devotional for 9/7/2024. These words really struck me as I was reading them. It is so easy to look past those in need as we admire the rich and/or famous people. We can talk a big game, but not live as we should. God wants us to care for the homeless, the unclothed, the hungry. I feel the Huxley Food Pantry that we support is a great example of one of the things we do to support those in need in our community. Let’s carry on and also look for more ways we can support those in need.
PRAY: Loving God, please open our eyes and hearts and minds to see what your will for us is. Help us and guide us in caring for those in need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
